ORGANIZATION BACKROUND
The establishment of Malay federation in 1948, a Customs
and Excise department was established for the Malay Peninsula. The main customs
area at that time was the entire Malay Peninsula except Penang Island.
The establishment of a customs union for all Malaysian
land in 1948, the need to improve the performance of department staff to meet
the needs of the nation that would lead to independence was extremely urgent. There
by in 1956 a training center was set up in a new hill, Melaka. The center known
as the center of customs training was initially only able to accommodate 40
trainers at one time.
The chanting of
Malaya reached independence on 31 August 1957, once again the administrative
structure of the customs department was restructured to meet the needs of the
independent Malay land. The administration of the customs department is placed
under the finance ministry headed by a customs bodyguard responsible for
financial sterility.
Departments as well as in terms of area
have been divided into three regions, based on three major trading centers for the northern part of the island is the
island of the Penang and covers the area of Kedah, Perlis, silver for the central
region, the base is in Kuala Lumpur and its area covers Terengganu, Kelantan
and Negeri Sembilan. Lastly, the southern region covers the Johor, Pahang, Melaka
and Singapore customs station. Every province is led by a senior assistant of
the Customs Controller.
On the 29th
day of October 1963 at the Tunku Abdul Rahman hall, Ampang road, Kuala Lumpur
hall, the customs department was awarded the royal title by DYMM his elaborate
series of monks. This is as a tribute to the government over the donation of
the state. It is among the most important moments in the history of development
of the customs department and the royal excise of Malaysia
The entry of Sabah and Sarawak and Singapore
into the Malay race on 16th September 1963, then again the administrative
department of the customs department was restructured to enable uniformity. In
1964 it has also been witnessed that all customs officers of the service money
were localized when two English officials terminated their tenure
The Peninsular
Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak are contained in Malaysia. This has affected the
movement of goods between regions to other regions. Movement of goods cannot be
easily implemented due to the difference. As a result, the three guards met in
the 1967 encounter
In 1987 it was
declared separately Langkawi from the main customs area and made it a second
independent port in Malaysia after Labuan. the award of free port status to Langkawi
from 1 January 1987 was aimed at promoting the tourism industry in Langkawi and
thereby enhancing the standard of living of local residents.
