HISTORY OF ESTABLISHMENT THE ROYAL MALAYSIAN CUSTOMS JOHORE (RMCJ)

      In Year 1855, Tanjung Puteri was launched and called Tanjung Puteri City. The tax system was introduced and Customs officers have been built in that city since 1855.
      In that Year, opium and liquor tax is the largest revenue collection. In early stage, tax collection operation implemented by lease system which gave to Chinese owner. Based on historical fact, Chinese owner is lease holder opium and liquor tax collection in Johor for the period more 10 years.
     Iskandar Puteri City is a place to cook opium and liquor for export to Singapore and local market in Johor. The location and opium cooking house located in Jalan Ibrahim and Jalan Segget. While, the cooking area of liquor located in Jalan Terus. At here have the facilities such as port for ship sent the opium and liquor to Singapore and other district and the tax officers.
    Until year 1911, Customs office were in Tower Four Building that located two miles from railway station and this located cause difficulty for traders to pay tax. In February 1911, Customs office was moved to railway station (is nearing by Sungai Segget). With this moved the opium officers can do their task effectively and increasing the revenue collection. In that year, the Customs office building only based upon board, the zinc and the building shaped such as long stick building. After that , the Customs headquarters accommodated at a double storey building in Jalan Wong Ah Fook. The customs headquarters is at the first floor while atb the ground is as arbitrator place for opium and other goods.
   Around year 1958, staff quarters and Customs officers including Customs store were built in Larkin area. Other than that, Customs building was build between Jalan Wong Ah Fook and Jalan Cambell which as a lorry screening facilitate and to Singapore
    On 1st July 2007, Royal Malaysian Customs for Certain division such as Enforcement Division, Customs Division and else are located in Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex or called the Sultan Iskandar Complex, Bukit Cagar. In CIQ Complex have other government department with their own function such as Department of Immigration Malaysia, PLUS expressway Berhad , Royal Malaysian Police and etc.
